South Asian InterVarsity (SAIV) exists to empower South Asian American leaders to transform their communities and the world. We practice contextualized outreach, culturally honoring discipleship, and strategic mobilization, to share the gift of Christ in ways that resonate deeply with South Asian heritage. Our approach to ministry is rooted in prayer and scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and driven by a commitment to the diversity of the South Asian American experience.
Important Values we hold as South Asian Intervarsity and ask you consider these as you volunteer at Redefined:
Inclusive - We affirm that we can follow Jesus while retaining culture. We have a diverse audience: multi-ethnic SA communities, interdenominational (catholic, protestant, brethren, orthodox, marthoma, non-denominational,etc), multi-religious (Hindu, Muslim, etc. backgrounds), 2nd generation & international students. Consider the diversity of our audience when serving our students.
Scripture Focused - We hold a high value of scripture and encourage you and students to be rooted in scripture
Empower Student Initiative - Consider what practical application you will invite students to take back on campus.
Dependence on the Spirit - We hold our best strategies in submission to God and anticipate that God will work through them and even outside of them. Consider how you will invite students to depend on God in applying what they learn.
We ask that all volunteers be willing to:
Share their personal faith journey when appropriate
Be authentic and approachable in conversations with students
Create a safe space for vulnerability, reflection, and growth
